The Claddagh symbolizes love (the heart), loyalty (the crown), and friendship (the hands), and has a whole tradition on how it must be worn. If you are married you wear the Claddagh on your left hand with the crown pointing away from your heart. If you are single and looking you wear the Claddagh on your right hand with the crown pointing towards your heart.
